Upcoming Bar Association Events for Students

ACBA Young Lawyers Division Judicial Team Trivia Night – November 19, 2014
The Allegheny County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division invites students to attend on its biggest events of the fall – Judicial Team Trivia Night.  The event will be held at the Rivers Club in One Oxford Centre (301 Grant Street, Downtown) on November 19, 2014. YLD members and student members will enjoy a cocktail hour with judges beginning at 5:00 pm and then be placed in small teams, headed by a judge, for an hour of trivia designed to test your knowledge in various law-based categories in a fun way. Prizes will be awarded to the top team. Judges and Justices from the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County are invited and a great response is expected again this year.

The registration fee is $20.00 per person for students and includes cocktail hour, an hour of trivia, two drink tickets, and heavy appetizers. If you are not a student member of the ACBA, you may join and register for the event for a discounted rate.

 

PA Bar Association – Family Law Section Winter Conference – January 16-18, 2015
The PBA Family Law Section will host its Winter Conference on January 16-18, 2015, at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square (Lancaster, PA).  The Family Law Section invites law students interested in family law to attend the conference.  Up to 3 students from any individual law school may attend (for a total of up to 15 students).  They offer a scholarship that covers 100% of the student conference fees and students may apply for a stipend that covers up to $150.00 for travel and hotel expenses.  Please read the conference brochure and scholarship application for additional information.  Questions may be addressed to Membership Committee co-chairs, Melissa Boyd (mboyd@highswartz.com) or Dawn Gull (gull@mmsj.com).  If you plan on attending, please notify me so I can let you know if any of our alumni will be attending the conference.

ACBA YLD Judicial Team Trivia – Student Invitation

Please join the Young Lawyers Division for Judicial Team Trivia Night! Students are encouraged to stop by the Student Lounge for Bar Associations & Professional Organizations Day on Tuesday, November 4 from 12:00-1:00 pm and 5:00-6:00 pm.  Attorneys and representatives from the following groups will be at the Law School to meet students and tell them about student membership opportunities:
