Lawyers on Location: MSASafety

Friday, April 1, 12:45-2:45 p.m., Corporate Office

Students are invited to attend a “Lawyers on Location” luncheon and tour of MSA – The Safety Company’s Cranberry Township headquarters (www.MSAsafety.com ). Our host, Rick Roda (L’01), Associate General Counsel, Assistant Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer, will be there to answer questions, give advice and offer suggestions for you as you plan your legal career.  We will also be touring the facility.  This is an OUTSTANDING opportunity to build your network!

Transportation will not be provided for this event.  The company is located about 20 miles north of the Law School, with travel time of about 30 minutes – carpooling is encouraged.

The event is open to all students, and we encourage you to take advantage of the chance to learn more about the in-house counsel experience.  Lunch will be provided, and business attire is required.

Women’s Bar Association Speed Networking Event

Want to hone your networking skills? Looking for an opportunity to meet practicing attorneys in the Pittsburgh legal community, or to get some free career advice? Then plan on attending a networking event hosted by the Women’s Bar Association (WBA) where participants will give you tips on networking and an opportunity to hone your networking skills in a no-pressure environment.
All students are welcome to attend the WBA Speed Networking Event on Wednesday, March 30, from 5:00-6:30 p.m.* in Room 414 (Faculty Lounge, Murray Pavilion).

Transportation Law Program Open to Duquesne Law Students

The law firm of Jones Day invites Duquesne Law students to a Transportation Law Update presented by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in Pittsburgh. Jones Day Partner John Goetz, head of the firm’s Airline & Aviation Industry Practice developed the course. The seminar is free for any law student to attend; students must indicate they are law students when registering.  Advanced registration is required.  To learn more about the program or to register, please visit www.pbi.org.  Professional attire is required.

Participants will receive practical strategies and tactics, as well as successful practice tips from both the plaintiff and defense bars. Participants will also hear from an accident reconstructionist expert who will explain his role in aviation litigation; a rail expert who will discuss safety vs. security concerns and claims against railroads; and jury consultants who will discuss the latest trends in jury verdicts and effective use of jury research. BNY Mellon Legal Careers Panel

Join us on Wednesday, March 9, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. for a unique panel bringing together lawyers who work in traditional attorney roles and JD-preferred positions (such as compliance and SART) at BNY Mellon.
