*Scholarships

The CSO maintains a list of scholarships offered by bar associations, law journals and professional organizations.  Please contact the Career Services Office if you would like us to review your application materials.  Questions about scholarships should be directed to the sponsoring organization.

2017-2018 Scholarships:

James W. Stoudt Memorial Scholarships – Various qualifications for three scholarships to be awarded to students attending PA law schools, but two scholarships will be awarded to historically underrepresented minority law students. Deadline: December 1, 2017

Dr. W. R. Walter Trust Scholarship – Enrolled in graduate school and a graduate of a high school in Dauphin or Cumberland County.  Deadline: January 25, 2018

Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh Central Pittsburgh – Any Jewish graduate student with demonstrated financial need who resides in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Washington, or Westmoreland Counties. Deadline: February 9, 2018

National Italian American Bar Association – Law student enrolled in Fall 2018 of Italian descent.  Deadline: February 28, 2018

Allegheny County Bar Association Environment & Energy Law Section Scholarship Fund – Upper division student interested in environmental or energy law. Deadline: February 28, 2018

2018 Judge WIlliam M. Marutani Fellowship – Asian Pacific American law student attending school in Pennsylvania and working at a public interest organization or government agency (including the judiciary) this upcoming summer.  Deadline: March 9, 2018

Samuel J. Goldstein, Esquire, Scholarship Fund (Residence in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Washington or Westmoreland County and other requirements.  Deadline: March 31, 2018

The Greiner/Roof Memorial Law Scholarship – Current law student who graduated from any high school in Elk or Cameron Counties. Deadline: April 1, 2018

Effie Solomon Memorial Scholarship – Female resident of Beaver County, PA. Deadline: April 28, 2018

St. Thomas More Guild of Western New York – Catholic law student who is domiciled in New York’s Eighth Judicial District.  Deadline: May 2, 2018

 

C.D. Gates, Jr. and Dr. Rebecca Gates Scholarship Fund (Student must be entering their 3rd or 4th year of Duquesne Law School during 2017-2018 academic year and demonstrate an interest in advocating for underserved youth (abused or neglected youth in the court system) or neighborhood legal assistance and support. Deadline: April 22, 2018

Don H. Liu Scholarship – Asian American Bar Association of New York (Various requirements.  Applications due 11/18/16.)

Robert A. McNew Law Student Scholarship (Federal Bar Association law student associate member in good standing.  Applications due 11/30/16.)

Sarita and Claire Lucas Foundation Scholarship (Awards scholarships to qualified, outstanding graduating African American female law students.  Applications due 12/1/16.)

Equal Justice America Law Student Fellowships (Students who will work full-time during Summer 2016 for organizations providing direct civil legal assistance for the poor.  May apply even if you are receiving funds from other sources (up to a certain amount). Applications due 3/20/17.)

Rob Vega Memorial Scholarship (Law student of Hispanic ancestry and other qualifications.  Applications due 4/1/17.)

The Honorable Carol Los Mansmann Memorial Scholarship, Allegheny County Bar Foundation  Application (Women law students who have finished their first year day division or second year evening or part-time day division at Duquesne University School of Law.  Applicants due 4/14/17.)

Louis Little Attorneys’ Memorial Fund, Allegheny County Bar Foundation  Application  (Low interest rate loans. Applications due 4/14/17.)

Biunno Scholarship Program, Essex County Bar Association (Demonstrate a permanent disability consistent with the specified criterion a variety of other factors, including financial need, law school achievement and commitment to the practice of law.  Applications due 5/5/17.)

Allegheny County Bar Association LGBT Rights Committee Lavender Law Conference & Career Fair (Student must be a student member of the Allegheny County Bar Association.  Scholarship award of $500 will help defray costs of attending the conference.  Applications due 5/19/17.)

Faerie L. Angle Education Trust Scholarship & Loan  Application (Resident of Franklin County, PA.  Applications due 6/30/17.)

The Patti Rose Scheimer Bednarik Memorial Scholarship Fund of the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation (Demonstrate an outstanding commitment to animal law/animal welfare.  Applications due 7/1/17.)
